Buzz and Zurg would go head-to-head repeatedly with Buzz thwarting his plans with the help of his new friends. Eventually, these people saved Buzz and assisted him in stopping Zurg from controlling the universe. I protect the galaxy from the threat of invasion from the Evil Emperor Zurg sworn enemy of the Galactic Alliance. Zurg takes control of a powerful mind control ray around the same time Buzz is dealing with people from Star Command he has little faith in. It is implied that he and Buzz Lightyear have been facing each other for quite some time before the events of the series. Paying supporters also get unlimited streaming via the Bandcamp app. His past remains a mystery, as do the events that lead him to become an emperor of an empire of evil. In the animated series Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Emperor Zurg is the primary villain, as the character that the Zurg toys from the Toy Story movies represent. A Zurg toy (likely different than the aforementioned one) also makes a brief appearance in Toy Story 3. After battling a Buzz Lightyear action figure (who was mistaken for the Buzz Lightyear owned by the boy Andy), he ended up befriending him after "revealing" that he was his "real father". Much like the Buzz Lightyear action figures, he believes that he is the character that he is modeled after.
In Toy Story 2, he is awoken in the toy store after Andy's toys investigate it in an attempt to find Woody. In the Toy Story films, Zurg is merely a toy recreation of the fictional character who has never been given a proper origin.
